Do Pheidole californica hibernate?

As the title says, I would like to ask if anyone knows if Pheidole californica hibernate at all. Or even if any ants in the Pheidole genus hibernate.

My Ants:
(x1) Campontous semitstaceus ~20 workers, 1 Queen
(x1) Camponotus vicinus ~10 workers, 1 Queen (all black variety)
(x1) Tetramorium immigrans ~100 workers, 1 Queen
(x1) Myrmercocystus mexicanus -1 Queen
(x2) Mymercocystus mimcus -1 Queen
(x1) Mymercocystus testaceus ~45 workers, 1 Queen

It depends on where they were caught from. If they are from the tropics or subtropics then no, they won't hibernate. For californica specifically, the answer would be no. When it comes to temperate Pheidole, I honestly don't know. You definitely can hibernate them, but it might be possible to brute force them through the winter by heating them, as is the case with some myrmecinae. I personally have never hibernated my Aphaenogaster tennesseensis even though they are temperate ants, just because I can get the queen to keep producing throughout winter.

Anything caught in LA shouldn’t hibernate, along with anything caught in the desert. Yet if it’s from the mountains or ‘NorCal’ as I’ve heard it called, then they might hibernate.

Anything caught in LA shouldn’t hibernate, along with anything caught in the desert. Yet if it’s from the mountains or ‘NorCal’ as I’ve heard it called, then they might hibernate.

Oh, that is good to know, as the Pheidole californica I’m getting is around the area of ‘Norcal.’

If you’re going to buy them, you could ask the seller.
