Seems like an interesting hobby to get into. But I have a dangerous habit of hobby ADHD...

I dabble in it.

I have a recurve bow with a 40lb pull.  I just shoot practice arrows to keep my shoulder strength up due to an old injury.

I find slingshots can also be interesting, and the ammo (rocks...) are free.  :D

Get some friends together and try to hit those little plastic army men.

People passing by don't even give the sling shot a second glance, the bow gets some good stares though.

Always shoot against a hill or good backdrop, it is so easy to loose arrows even in short grass.  They just burrow themselves an inch or two under the dirt...

What's a good beginner bow that has potential if I get more serious but also isn't too pricey (<$100 possible?) so I won't cry if I get bored of it?

Archery also seems like a good alternative to shooting, since I imagine you can pretty much do it anywhere that's an open space with a backdrop. At least here in CA, try that with a gun and you'll probably get talked to, even in legal BLM areas. Beaten and shot if LAPD (I kid! I have friends that are LAPD).

Possibly a recurve or longbow used maybe. But for a decent setup it will be $500 with whatever you choose. $500-1000 for a compound. Also they can be dangerous even in the backyard. They can ricochet off of rocks or trees if a bad shot is made. But it's a good hobby. I personally hunted but 3d target shoots are fun too. Just go to the local archery shop and ask questions.
