I remember at one point seeing someone use a computer program to determine the number of ants in a picture, namely a large Camponotus chromaiodes colony, by recognizing certain features, probably heads or gasters, that only occur once per ant. I'm not sure if it was on this forum or if I saw it somewhere else. Either way, I would love to get a hold of this program if anyone knows anything about it.

Currently keeping:

Tetramorium immigrans, Pogonomyrmex occidentalis

Myrmica punctiventris, Formica subsericea

Formica pallidefulva, Aphaeogaster cf. rudis

Camponotus pennsylvanicus

Camponotus nearcticus

Crematogaster cerasi

Temnothorax ambiguus

Prenolepis imparis

I believe Serafine made it. I tried using it but it was in German. You could message him though

There is a important time for everything, important place for everyone, an important person for everybody, and an important ant for each and every ant keeper and myrmecologist alike

I made a post awhile ago about how to estimate colony size and the user Barristan posted a link to a program he made in German.

And my post if you want to read more that's been said.
