So in San Jose and the bay area (Northern California) are having heavy rains. To the users in the bay area, what should be out after the rain? The rain will stop in 2 days, should I look for queens then or when the rain is fully over?

There won't really be any ants that will fly after this (except for maybe Dorymyrmex insanus, but if I'm wrong someone please correct me on that). It's way too cold and windy right now in January. You'd probably have more luck next month when it gets over 70 degrees; Prenolepis imparis and a couple other species will start to fly. You could try looking around Friday and/or after all the rain stops, but I doubt it would be worth it...

It's too early in the winter for even Imparis to be honest. Imparis usually will start flying around February.
