I've noticed that Lasius itself has no common name that I'm aware of, so I thought it would be good to come up with a name that we could tell new ant keepers when we recommend beginner species, and such.

"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. (including ants) And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version

They have many common name that I know of- just some examples

Lasius interjectus- Larger Yellow Ant

Lasius claviger- Smaller yellow ant

Lasius neoniger- Labour Day Ant

Lasius americanus- American cornfield ant

etc etc

I think we should instead encourage more usage of scientific names though
