Hi, thanks for checking:

1. Location: Collected in central region of Hungary, near Budapest.

2. Date of collection: 1. July 2019, afternoon

3. Habitat of collection:

- Industrial area, next to building, near garden area, caught in the parking place / pavement

4. Length (from head to gaster): ~1,1 cm

5. Color, hue, pattern and texture:

- dark brawn or brownish-black,

6. Distinguishing characteristics:

- Quite small head

- big gaster

- thin legs

7. Distinguishing behavior:

- She looks calm, cleaning herself occasionally, moving normally (rarely seen her running), and also napping. Not agressive at all.

- I give her a small drop of honey mixed with a small drop of water in every 3 days, she likes it.

8. Nest description: There is a nest in about 20 m next to the building with small (~3 mm) black ants (not sure if she is from there)

9. Nuptial flight time and date:

- My guess is the same day when I collected her.

- I found some living, more half-dead and many dead males in the morning, that is why I started to look for queens every time when I passed nearby.

- Have found few queens eventually afternoon, and she was the only without wings, that is why I chose her.

My guess is Lasius, can someone confirm or correct me, and maybe identify more exactly?

Looks like Lasius, but I am unsure of species, as we need better pics to find out that.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
