Adding salt to ant diet?

I don't recall salt ever being mentioned in any honey-water or hummingbird nectar formulations, but looks like it's worth a try?

Very cool.  Lots of things play into receptivity.  I'll look this over and see if my existing recipes can be improved.

I'm going to try mixing an approximate 0.4M NaCl solution and mixing it 1:9 with my nectar as they did and see how that works out.

I am pretty sure it was said in one of MrILoveTheAnts's Ants of the Southwest videos that they were using salt or something with salt as bait.

No. They peed on the ground and speculated the ants were eating their pee because of the salt in it.
