Paper method of scooping up brood in a test tube

This seems to work well -

after removing the queen and workers

Insert a sheet of paper that is cut so it hugs the bottom of the test tube in a curved fashion.
Slide it down the test tube until the brood is scooped up, pull out.
reverse the process in the new test tube or nest :)

If the brood doesn't want to move you can use a small paint brush to ease the brood onto the paper
and vice versa in the new test tube or nest

Hey that sounds like a good idea. I will try that! Almost sounds like that would work with the entire colony. Queen, workers and brood. If that’s a good way to move a colony I’m all for it since trying to get ants to move out of test tubes sucks.
