Based on chat that's been happening in the DIY channel of our discord, I've put together this pinterest board of interesting concepts or ideas for making formicariums

https://www.pinteres...antkeeping-diy/

Hopefully it's helpful to some people!  :D will be adding to it as interesting new things come up.

No problem, Kevin (he's around here somewhere) bought them and told us about his experiences too

In short:

- Glass is soda-lime, not borosilicate

- By his assessment, it's good quality make

- Packing is really good

Instead of leaving the water chamber open like that i would fill it up with sand, well at least half full of sand to minimise leaking

The ones I got from Aliexpress have a gypsum plug, doesn't mold unlike cotton, and the chamber is filled with soil/sand. The cap is also air tight

Could try sponge, which should hold a lot of water

I'll keep this thread updated with really big discoveries and observations. I've got a hygrometer arriving in the mail that I plan to do some testing with.

This video shows how to apply dirt extremely realistically. His technique is extremely good and could benefit anybody who builds their own formicariums.

I've used the scenic glue technique myself and it works very well!
