I found these silly looking things way out near Death Valley while I was on my last desert anting trip. I'm pretty sure they're Desert Weevils. They sure are funny looking and I think I want to try to rear them since I'm sure one of these is going to be fertile after this act.

Ophryastes sp? That was a guess, I don't know the first thing about weevils.

Yeah, I know it's Ophryastes. Not sure what species though. I asked kellakk and he doesn't know what species.

Edit: I think it's Ophryastes mixtus based on this https://bugguide.net/node/view/173504.
