So I was looking for lasius social parasite and camponotus queens when I stumbled upon Myrmica queen. I put her in a test tube setuo and attached it to a small foraging area. I know that they are semi-claustral, but I've never had success. I also caught 5 ponera queens as well. Does anyone know how to care for sem-claustral queens? Thanks!

They don't need to eat that much. BBut a special note would be to give especially  high humidity

You could try offering some kind of a dipteran near the entrance to the nest.

Ponera pensylvanica really needs a dirt habitat. They can't climb glass, and don't do well in test tubes. They are semi claustral, and you can feed them fruit flies. I would use a petri dish with soil to house them if I were you.

You are welcome to check on my Ponera pennsylvanica journal. I have been trying to record anything I find out about them from queen to workers.

Random but I just caught one of my ponera queens laying an egg!!!! It was sticking out of her gaster and she removed it. It's so small and thin!!! Maybe it's the high humidity and the fact that they're right next to a heat mat. I have them in a test tube setup with some ground up wood flakes(with the consistency of dirt) covering the cotton ball, along with a little "floor" in which the queens are nestling on top of. I'm so pumped up right now, I've never seen any of my queen ants until now laying an egg. Btw, I find that these ants go crazy for fruit flies. All of my ponera colonies have feasted on them.

Ponera go crazy for any soft arthropod I give them, often dragging into their nesting area. They don't seem to clean it out at all and mold will happen. For this I would recommend adding springtails.

Thanks, I spotted some springtails in the substrate and I have an activr culture as well. Thanks for the tips!
