Hi!
This is my new journal, which will follow the progress of the following (will add more if more are received):

LAST UPDATED JANUARY 10, 2019

Current:

Miniature Labradoodle (Canis lupus familiaris) "Percy"
Australian/standard Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) "Loki"

Mourning Gecko (Lepiodactylus lugubris) "Aurora"
False North American Fire Ants (Myrmica sp.)
Little Black Ant, just rarer (Monomorium emarginatum)

Some darkling beetles (assorted sp)

Polistes queens (assorted sp, hibernating)

My collection certainly has dwindled quite a bit  :(

Hi!
This is my new journal, which will follow the progress of the following (will add more if more are received):
Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches (Pair) (Not arrived yet, from Josh's frogs)
Parcoblatta pennsylvanica (Nymphs)
Unidentified Roaches (Nymphs)
Ironclad Beetles (group of four adults) (Not arrived yet, from Bugsincyberspace)
Zophobas morio (group of larvae)
Unidentified Ground Beetle (Young adult)
Reticulitermes flavipes (Founding colony, three founders)
Zootermopsis angusticollis (Termitat, unknown colony size)
Vespula germanica (Several queens, hibernating)
Polistes fuscatus (Several queens, hibernating)
Jumping bristetail (Unidentified species, elderly individual)
Springtails (Very large species, possible Pogonognathellus. Small breeding colony)

Since I just ordered the termitat and the other insects today, I'll update the journal when the three new species arrive.

erm, just a little concern but probably not a problem, but you got a pair of hissers and I'm assuming that you're gonna breed them, so how will the colony survive with all the inbreeding and stuff?

I'm going to separate the babies :)

If they have a successful brood, I might separate the pair.

I read somewhere that roach inbreeding is okay, but I'm not gonna take any chances :P

My Jumping Bristetail just molted yesterday, and now has a beautiful mottled color. I moved him into my fancier little terrarium.

By the way, my little "sub updates" don't count as anything important.

Funny story: once, my dad took me to the Farmington River for a bit of fly fishing. Of course, I caught no fish (I'm a terrible fly fisherman ;)), but I did find a whole variety of insects. At that time, I really wanted to collect more beetles for my collection. I was on a sandy portion of the shore when I suddenly saw a beautiful green tiger beetle sprinting across the sands. I gave chase, and it tried to fly away. Instead, it flew into a massive orbweaver nest. I quickly tried to claim the beetle, but a massive orbweaver dropped out of a leaf and started to wrap the beetle. I decided to let nature take its course and leave it be. On the way out, I found the beetle, which was still fine, eating the spider while entangled in the web.I ended up keeping the beetle for a week.

I just found a yellow sac spider, and now it lives in one of my smaller terrariums.

Watch out for their bites, it can be pretty nasty. Never been fly fishing before but I did go fishing once and found a giant Calasoma sp.

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Apparently the YSS bite is an urban legend. Their bites are more similar to a small ant sting.

My Bugsincyberspace order was delayed due to the monday temperature, and I'm surprised and delighted that they were concerned about the insects. Now I'm worried about the roaches...

Guessing his parents hate them. My parents like Paper Wasps due to my hours and hours of blabbing about the occasional foundresses I saw in Hawaii.

Nobody understands them, Hunter.
In truth, bald faced hornets are pretty chill. I picked up a worker off a nest once. True, a whole bunch of workers came out, but they just looked at me and went back in (I had fed that colony honey before)

QUESTIONS:
1.What should I name my hissing cockroach pair? Apparently they shipped yesterday. I'm expecting them to arrive on friday or saturday.

2.Which of the following would be interesting roaches to keep as pets and/or use as feeders? I'm considering buying a few more.
-banana roach (I love their colors)

-glowspot roach (they seem like cool pets)

-dubia roach (My last nymph died  :()
-Cryptocercus (Also seems cool)

-Domino roaches (pretty cute, my parents like these)

3.What should I name my termitat colony? It might arrive this month.

4.What should I name my two diabolical ironclad beetles from Bugsincyberspace?

Wow, "Schmoe" is a great girl name.

Dubia roaches are a good choice, I was really thinking about getting a pair to live with my hissers.

Also, what do you mean by yes? If you were making a joke, it isn't that funny.
