Hi guys

I'm a noobie ant keeper; I bought my first colony on the 7th of March this year. I chose the Myrmicaria Natalensis(Drop Tail ant)species there was about 20 workers when I got them and 3 or 4 larva. I’m using a surface nest setup for them. A few works have died unfortunately so I cleaned out the nest completely and they seem to be doing much better but they have recently being rejecting the crickets I’ve given them.

I just got my second colony today it is a Pheidole species there are around a hundred or so in the colony already I’ve put them into a container that I am using as an outworld for them with it which I connected to wooden nest I made. I will be connecting two more small containers to it that I will keep moist for them to use for their brood.

Any advice or tips are welcome; I’m looking forward to growing both of them and learning as much as I can.

This link shoud show my photos of my tanks and colonies.

So its been more than a year since my last update. Because no matter what I've tried my Droptail queen was not laying eggs and her workers were dying and my Pheidole sp were raided by another from the garden and every last ant was killed :(...

Then earlier this week after trying one last effort with my drop tails my queen started laying eggs for the first time. she has two lava and a small cluster of eggs from what i can see. the last ditch effort was I bought a toy ant farm set it up and after rehouse them into a fresh test tube connected it up to the nest. I'm so excited to see if she will build her colony as quickly as I've heard.

I will try and fix try the link Goldsystem thanks for letting me know.
