How to care for Northern U.S. Crematogaster?

I finally caught my first ever Michigan Crematogaster queen yesterday on the dock of a lake!  :yahoo: I've heard wonderful things about these ants and horrible things about them in ANTdrew's Crematogaster journal and some others too. Not really sure about care for them but I do know they will need to hibernate before workers and as ANTdrew says... "HEAT HEAT HEAT" but besides that I know nothing else. Any help will be welcome! And hopefully maybe even ANTdrew will pop in for advice.

(Also, just noticed I'm in my business count posting this... AGAIN. So, I'll respond to advice in my personal account.)

Excellent! Welcome to Team Crematogaster. Your queen will need to hibernate for 10-12 weeks minimum before she lays eggs. To successfully keep this species you just need lots of heat, lots of protein, lots of drinking water, and lots of SPACE. Use big containers with good lids, so they have plenty of room to roam.

Thanks, ANTdrew. I appreciate it. I'm glad to be on Team Crematogaster. Crematogaster are the supreme ants of the frigid parts of the U.S.

Have i mentioned yet that i have been keeping crematogaster for a bit? i probably forgot. But anyway, i am now also on team crematogaster!
