Hi, does anyone know anywhere you can buy colonies of Australian red honey ants (Melophorus bagoti)? Or if there are any zoos/experts/hobbyists or anyone who keep them?

I am UK based, but can travel to Australia for these ants if needed. We are looking to film them for a new documentary series.

Thanks!

You need a location in your profile before making a wanted add. Also if you are not in Australia then receiving a colony of them will be near to impossible.

I've seen Melophorus bagoti queens for sale on Queen of Ants- The Best in Australian Ants, Available Worldwide and The Ant Lab . They usually come in stock around February each year, but are very popular and usually sell out within a few days.

You'll likely need to travel to Australia to receive a queen from either of these companies.

(Also, if anyone else is selling them (in Australia) $175 or under you have yourself a deal.)
