Hey ya'll,
I have a small Brachymyrmex obscurior colony of about 9 workers right now, in a test tube setup. I bought a test tube portal from AC and attached the current tube and a fresh one to it, plugging the other two holes up. The current test tube has pretty much completely run out of water in the reservoir but there is still some moisture in the cotton. I've been keeping them in my closet where its dark 24/7 unless I'm looking at them, and I haven't ever seen them enter into the portal yet (which I'm using as a pseudo outworld. I guess what I'm wondering is should I be confident that these ants are going to move house into the other test tube once it becomes bone dry in theirs? Should I pull them out of the closet and keep them in the light, covering the other tube with a sock or something?
