On 6/20 and 6/21 I managed to capture and test tube 17 Tetramorium immigrans elates that had landed on my cars.

One of the Queens has died, and plenty still haven't laid eggs. However three have.

6/20 capture

This queen pulled one of her wings, and was the first to lay eggs.

One of the winged queens with brood beat the wingless queen to getting workers first. Two enclosed yesterday, so I rewarded them with a nice fat fruit fly.

Don't worry, I only intend on keeping one colony of these. No sense driving myself insane trying to care for multiple colonies of T. immigrans.

How often are you going to update

Generally I update my stuff at least once a week. The queen above with 2 workers now has 3 workers. All of which have darkened.

I expect some of my other queens will have workers soon too. I only plan on keeping one colony past the founding stage, the others will go to other local ant keepers in my area.  (y)

Winged queen now has 9 workers, and plenty of brood. Pretty crazy how they tear up a fruit fly.

The wingless queen has only 3 workers currently, but should catch up soon.

Slightly fuzzy picture of the winged queen and her workers.

The winged queen with the most workers moved into the mini hearth with minimal effort on my part. They seem to be doing well.

Okay, I got inspired by AntsUtah and made a outworld for the wingless queen. Just a simple tub with some fake succulents and perfect cast. Should work fine for now.

The winged queen in the mini hearth is still laying like crazy.

So uh, the two colonies are growing rapidly all of a sudden. Especially the mini hearth colony. Look at that brood pile... Uh oh.  :o
