I am very excited to introduce this trio of queens I got in the mail today. They are hands down my favorite species of Camponotus in the world. I love their colors and how abnormaly large they are. Its funny, I have them in an incubator next to my one sansabeanus queen and they are so much larger then her. They are about 13/16 of an inch while my sansabeanus is only 10/16 of an inch. Well enough rambling from my excitement. Here they are:

I’ll get better photos when the condensation disappears.

We caught some a little over a week ago in the local mountains, I see that yours have already laid eggs as well. I share your excitement, these have been our target for 3 years now. Best of luck to you and all 3 queens

So sadly I checked today and the thinnest queen which is the closet one in the two photos passed. I’m still optimistic for the other two as they seem to be chugging along in the egg department.

edit: that is why when purchasing single queens I always purchase multiple just to give me a better chance.

Acquired a new Ca02 colony with a footless queen and a new queen with about five cocoons. This is all thanks to cocdeshijie. Great vendor, go check him out if you are in SoCal or in California.

Brood boosted the OG queens, new queen is doing great and hoping for workers in about a week, and big colony has gotten to about 40-45 workers now. The big colony is growing at an alarming rate but i want to get the colony to producing elates to hopefully do a lab experiment so i've been pumping the food in heavy. I feed them about 2 meal worms or a big dubia nimph every other day, then a dish of sugar waterthat they love to bits. ZTY out

If your colony somehow decides to make alates it won't be at least for a couple of more years most likely.

One of the single queens got her first worker so I’m going to be putting them in a starter formicarium I made once the worker hardens and I’ll get pics once they are settled in.

Here is the big colony eating a cricket. They have a bunch of eggs and a good amount of larvae and cocoons.
