i used to catch these. put them on a small piece of wood and making it float like a raft on a river full of fish. where it was allowed to swim. i saw as the fish ate them and realeased the last one standing. Bassically raft of doom

Do these by chance kill other insects? I often find boxelder bugs chewing up queen ants and bees.

No, they feed in plant fluids. You are probably finding assassin bugs.
