I heard that you use this to create formicariums, but when i looked on amazon, it said it was for plants. How would i use it in my formicariums? Same with perlite.

It’s more of a substrate than building material. It is kind of like rocky clumps of sand. It absorbs water well and doesn’t mold.I heard that you use this to create formicariums, but when i looked on amazon, it said it was for plants. How would i use it in my formicariums? Same with perlite.

i have heard of people like painting their nests with it to hold water. How do you do that?

You can mix it with grout etc when making a formicarium. Or just have it loose in the nest for the ants to move around to aid hydration. It comes in coarse, medium, fine grain (size of pieces).
Used by Tar Heel Ants as I understand it.
