Saw males on blacklight then found this queen

Don't think she's fertile but hopefully

She looks like a tiny fraggle queen but more orange and brown

She has large stripes on her gaster

About half an inch long

No rain just hot and humid

I would have grabbed a male as well for captive insemination.

4 x Solenopsis xyloni (Fire ant) colonies.

2 x Veromessor andrei (Seed-harvester ant) colonies.

19 x Pogonomyrmex subnitidus (Seed-harvester ant) colonies + 3 x Pogonomyrmex (ID uncertain) colonies

16 x Linepithema humile (Argentine ant) colonies.

1 x Unknown Formicidae colony.

1 x Tapinoma sessile (Odorous house ant) colony.

1 x Camponotus fragilis (Carpenter/wood ant) colony + 1 x Camponotus sansabeanus (Carpenter/wood ant) colony.

1 x Solenopsis molesta (Thief ant) colony.

Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, Brachymyrmex sp.   possibly infertile   :(,  Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!  :yahoo: 

 

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

                    

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: Pheidole morrisii

It is something in the festinatus group, I wouldn't try to get it further with photographs. Color is totally unreliable as has been said soo many times.

So how do people sell C. fragilis as fragilis and not festinatus group.

Because in many cases they have the ant in hands and have taken the time to identify it, also at times depending on where the ant was collected you can make a fairly safe educated guess.
