Los angeles argentine ants battle with Bakersfield argentine ants ? why ? I decided i would bring some back, and i got 8 queens from Bakersfield, along with 30-40 males, while having 27 queens from my local location, and about 20 males for them. I've also noticed some color differences. Bakersfield argentine ants appear to be fine with the heat, more sensitive to water exposure though. They have a reddish thorax, and brown abdomen and head.
I discovered this when introducing them into my formicariumed argentine ant colony, with at least 40 argentine ants, which i will get pictures of soon, and they completely warred. All of the males i dumped in where dragged out of the main hole, then killed. So, I've decided I would see if this was just some sort of accident, or this is the reality of the "super colony" I've decided Each colony will start out with three queens, and will have four month's to raise the colony to whatever size is needed, and I'm not sure on how many workers to start them off with. the maximum would be around 25, because that's the amount of workers i got from Bakersfield. Anyways, after the four months, I will put them into each their own formicarium, and then connect them to each other the next day. I will be taking pictures of things, but no guarantee they will be good c: If you guys want to alter the experiment to change anything, I'm up for idea's. And I'm thinking the time is a bit short, but we will see how it goes.
