Building mini hearth/founding chamber

Anyone on this site build there own mini hearth or founding chamber? I know test tubes are great, but I really like the look of the hearths/founding chambers, especially from THA.

Not sure if they're grout or not.

Just looking to see the process. Just not sure how to make the chamber? Putty or clay?

Love the hobby.

molding clay would be best to make the chambers or u can slide it out and carve the chambers
