I have a small colony of Camponotus caryae, and they so far have refused house flys, nuts, seeds, and some other insects. Do you know of anything that they will almost always eat?

They sound stressed. I’d let them “chill out” in a dark and quiet place for a couple days. Feed them after that period.

My Camponotus nearcticus haven't been eating much as they have repletes and have no need to eat, but when they do eat, they usually take sugar water. I gave my Camponotus snellingi colony a green jelly bean one night, and when I came back the next morning, they were all green! Just try and feed them sugary foods once they calm down.

I read a paper that said Caryae are thought to feed mostly on Honey dew and Nectar. Try Honey. :)

Oh ya, I did forget to mention that they do like honey! :D although I’m mainly worried about the protein.
