Alright, so that ant is a 3.5cm long Myrmecia brevinoda queen.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!  :yahoo:

She's in an Aus Ants nest and outworld but she refuses to go into the nest, I'm gonna just put her into a tubs and tubes soon.

Also, Pheidole have a male! This is my first colony to start producing alates and I'm quite proud of them :)

Purpureus at 12 workers, Brachyponera chugging along at around 9, Opisthopsis are at 6 and willingly exploring their outworld!

Colobopsis and Technomyrmex are dead :(

Low quality brevinoda pics!!!

sorta low quality reflections!1!1!
low quality reflections!!1!1

the second one is so bad  %)

Anyway, after a very scary moving procedure (thanks dad for risking your fingers) she's in a tubs and tubes setup now, since she refused to go into the Aus Ants Ytong nest.

I think the hole was too small. (she's so massive!)

I think I may have identified my Pheidole.

I'm thinking probably Pheidole bos baucis. The workers, major and minor, both match the antweb specimens and are found in NSW, according to antmaps.

Here's an interesting scenario. I tried to create a massive 11 queen colony of these Solenopsidini ants, and all the queens died except for 1, and she has workers now.

Got some really sad news guys... my Myrmecia brevinoda queen passed away. :(

She was doing so well just yesterday, but I guess that's just what happens sometimes in antkeeping.

Some better news:

My grandparents found a colony of Colobopsis gasseri, it had 2 queens which they caught 1 of and about half the colony. I don't feel too bad for them since the colony will most likely live on with the extra queen.

They're doing well and I moved them into what I call a 'luxury test tube,' or an AKD Test Tube Nest 15mm x 150mm – Ant Keeping Depot .

I also found 8 Acropyga sp. queens, 5 of which I am selling (Acropyga sp. Queens for sale - Ants Online) and I'm keeping the other 3. The 3 I have all removed their wings and have dug into the little test tube terrariums I made. Photos coming soon.

Also, later today I'm going to collect an Ochetellus glaber colony that's currently living in my grandmother's swimsuit... they have to have at least 1000 workers, wish me luck!

You were too tall to recapture them haha

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

YouTube: https://m.youtube.co...uKsahGliSH7EqOQ (It's pretty dead. Might upload again soon, don't expect my voice to sound the same though.)

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): Camponotus irritans inferior, Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, Nylanderia sp., Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.
