Living in Virginia? Noticing crazy high prices for ants, both from shops and from local sellers? Worry no longer! My prices are 50-75% lower for the same sized colony of the same species than other sellers. These ants are well fed, well taken care of, and not massively overpriced to take advantage of hobbyists just looking for a new colony in a small hobby.

I’m worried we won’t be selling as much now with all these businesses selling ants cross country, not to mention all the illegal vendors on Etsy.

Yes, that's been concerning to me as well. I've seen so many ants sold on eBay as "feeder insects", it sickens me. You can sell ants, but be mindful about what could consequently happen from illegally bringing them over state lines. The USDA has rules for a reason... The main person who is selling ants on Etsy is, I believe, Preny, so the ants aren't actually going across state borders. I'm not sure who is selling them on eBay though.

I do have permits to ship certain species to certain states. For me, the biggest problem is not being able to reach enough people.

I think supply is more of the reason these days. Each year, there are more and more people better at finding flights. You alone can find enough queens in one flight than there are all of NE new keepers combined. There are going to be sellers holding on queens hoping to fetch the high price while others would prefer just to get rid them asap for cheaps. I am looking for the latter.

Keeps: Camponotus, Tetra

Wants (Please reach out if you have them for sale if you’re in the US): Acromyrmex Sp., Atta Sp., Cephalotes Sp., Myrmecocystus Sp (Prefer Mexicanus), Odontomachus Sp. (Prefer Desertorum), Pachycondyla Sp., Pheidole Sp (Prefer Rhea. The bigger the better. Not the tiny bicarinata), Pogonomyrmex Sp (Prefer Badius)., Pseudomyrmex Sp. (Prefer the cute yellow ones)

I highly doubt that it's because of supply. I said this in chat, but Tbone had a 2 queen 40 worker colony priced at $45 or something outrageous and I have a 1 queen 50 worker colony priced at $12. He sold his within a week. Mine has been going for over a month.

I am the only seller of Vollenhovia emeryi and Crematogaster lineolata that I know of.
I currently have the cheapest prices for A. rudis, C. chromaiodes, and Tapinoma sessile.
I may currently have the cheapest prices for A. fulva and C. pennsylvanicus, but not sure.

I'm also confused why you're not getting that many sales despite having such low prices. Not only are they low, but also reasonable. If I were in your state or had permits, I'd be jumping for your Vollenhovia, but I'm from Cali, so...

True, people are selling Messor in the US(barbrus) when I don’t think they are native to North America. There are some rule followers on eBay though, who say the cancel your order if you order out of state. How true is this? I don’t know. But it’s better than selling the invicta queens on eBay….
