I forgot ants were pollinators, too!  My mom just bought some fruits and vegetables for her garden, so maybe so Lasius workers will come around?  Don't doubt it, but don't count on it.  Anyways, I brought a vial to catch any possible hosts and brood (I don't have an aspirator yet).

Aspirators are really easy to make. First time i used one i got covered in ants but then i realised you can hold the tube just above what you're sucking out, so they can't climb all over you. Good luck!

Claviger queen has hosts now! I used my crappy aspirator to collect hosts, and gave them to my two claviger queen set up. The killed one, but after quickly chilling then, they accepted her!

In the second one you can kinda see the queen’s yellow legs with her dark body near the back. I also caught the workers filling in the hole between the outworld and nest with dirt haha. I gave them a mealworm and some honey, but the ants are probably just nurses so might take a while for them to discover it.7145613c3c5cee277b044f0670f217a0.jpg

Ants do visit flowers for nectar. They are relatively poor pollinators, but so are butterflies for that matter. Wild ginger is a common native that is primarily ant pollinated.
