Update 8-1-2020

This will be the journal detailing all of my Monomorium minimum colonies, although I currently only have one queen. I've been promising a macro photography tutorial, so here it is if your curious https://www.formicul...ds/#entry157595

Monomorium minimum (1 queen):

This is currently my only queen, but what I lack in numbers she is making up for in production. There are already a few large larvae within her test tube that might be pupating in the next few days. Hopefully this colony will reach a point where new queens are produced and then mated in the nest, wouldn't that be neat?

Man she looks great! I’ve heard that species is hard to keep going without at least a few workers due to being polygamous so I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes

I used to keep one similar to that when I was a kid. I had about 10 queens. I dug up the nest which was extremely shallow. At the time I had no idea what type they were. I can't say I even really cared at the time. I was pretty young and I figured I was probably the first one to discover them at the time because they were so small and hard to see. They definitely enjoyed sweet foods.

This is typical of most small species.

Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, ~~Brachymyrmex sp.~~ possibly infertile , Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: ~~Pheidole morrisii~~

Excellent! My two queens are cranking out workers like nuts. It’s like an instant colony. I couldn’t feed them in their tube anymore, so I gave them an outworld yesterday.
