Last September, I bought a Andrei colony from Nurbs, with around 100 workers and a healthy queen. The queen has laid a large batch of eggs. She has a HUGE pile of larvae, almost the size of a pea. She has a lot of eclosed workers that are almost hardening. She has around 120-140 workers. I feed them a harvester ant mix, made up of, Kentucky Bluegrass, Chia and Poppy seeds, crushed, dried mealworms and some other seeds
Hopefully they keep up the growth

Pretty simple
Put varied seeds and hydrate their nest
They don’t like sugar water or anything that goes in that range. But an occasional protein depending on the colony size is good too

The queen and workers are slowing down a bit
Getting cooler.
I made the mistake of putting 3-8 veromessor on my hand.
Try to get them to bite me.
So so painful. Excruciatingly painful, but for some reason, I found it fun...

I have a question.
If the Andrei queen is maroon, can the workers be yellowish orange?

Sorry, for the late update.

Anyways I put this colony in a Drewcarium dirt box, and they have about 200+ workers. I feed them crickets and seed. They dig amazing tunnels. The queen layed so many eggs, that the actually carved a section just for eggs!
