Nice! Good luck with the queen. I just checked mine after three weeks on a heat cable, and all three have small brood piles. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

The C. cerasi queen has a good egg pile now. The C. lineolata queen keeps almost getting workers but then eats the pupae before they eclose.

Dang! Why do you think she keeps eating the pupae? Is she getting stressed somehow?
Mine all have good sized egg piles now. It's taking longer than I expected to get workers.

Just leave them alone and give them as much protein as they can eat. A surplus in protein means more brood. It almost 99.9999% works. But a queen eating pupae right before they enclose, is a strange case.

C. cerasi is close to workers! her pupae also seem like twice the size of the C. lineolata queen's.

C. cerasi nanitics! They're larger than expected. The nanitics are the size I'd estimated full-size workers would be. I can't wait to see what the mature workers are like. I gave them some Sunburst and a fruit fly. You can see that one of the worker's gaster is expanded from drinking it. I also got to see their signature gaster-over-head attack/defense thing against the fruit fly. Definitely going to be a fun species to keep.

I am surprised by how quickly they develop. My colony has around 40 workers and over 200 brood.
