Hello! I am hoping to start my very first formicarium this summer and I can use all the help I can get! I am excited to get going but as of right now I am trying to ID these ants, which I'm hoping are queens, and furthermore, that they're mated. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I apologize about the poor image quality, I only have access to my phone which is not very good.
Location of collection: Keewaydin State Park, found on a hose faucet handle in the morning
Length: 12mm
Dull black in color on all body but the gaster, which is a shiny black. The wings have a yellowish hue. The antenna appear to only have two segments(?) but that could just be because the segments are very small and this is my first time ever trying to identify an ant this specifically.
Distinguishing characteristics: one petiole node, length and orientation of any spines or bumps on the thorax or waist, head shape, eye size, shape of mandibles, number of antennal segments, etc.)
