caught 28/11/2017 on a rainy night at 10:23pm
08/12/2017 had laid 6 eggs
09/01/2018 had a naked pupae but she ate it
20/01/2018 first nanitic hatched
17/02/2018 moved them to an acrylic expandable formicarium with all but the first section sectioned off, at 6 workers
23/02/2018 one worker died, i think bc the water tube i put in the outworld wasn’t secured and rolled onto it slightly as i found it next the water tube. secured tube with blue tack.
03/03/2018 at six workers. ants have blocked up nest entrance with the brown reptile sand i gave them.
notes: the other camponotus lownei queen i caught at the same location a week after the first died a month and a half later, i think because i gave her a drop of honey and then didn’t check her/clean the honey out for 5 days. she had 2 larvae and 7 eggs.
their favourite protein source is fruit flies. they will accept mealworms, and don’t really like dubia roaches. they prefer honey to maple syrup, and haven’t touched any grape fragments or seeds i’ve given them.
