It is too early for the bulk of Camponotus to fly right now, C. pennsylvanicus starts flying next month (March) but the majority of their flights will occur during late spring and early summer, around May and June, like many other Camponotus species.

I figured as much, but after searching all last year i figured if i posted this now someone will find one some time during this season of flights and be able to report it. Also not man ant lovers seem to be here in Nebraska, and trust I have done plenty of research. Also I will have all the things I need from a queen all the way up to a large colony due to my family giving me over 800$ of Ant Canada money last Christmas which is awful because no queen and a lot of money to get ant stuff to spoil them... Well anyways, I hope to catch a bunch of ants this season with my friends and become a GAN farmer for those around here who may be in the same boat. As of right now I am just praying.

Here in Omaha, which is a large city in Nebraska, we don't have much dead trees, would that be an issue? Should I go to a local (about 20-40 minute drive) foresty type area for them? I can look for them while camping as such too, but the problem is I do not know when the best time is (what type of conditions, ex windy, temp, etc.) can you share any details as far as that?

Any luck? I'm near Omaha but just started two young colonies, one is Camponotus pensylvanicus.

I have had luck, I have Camponotus pennsylvanicus, Lasius niger, unidentified red queen ant, and 2 Tetramorium colonies. (I sell extras)
