Myrmecocystus mexicanus has been a surprised easy to raise species. No clue where this whole hard to found thing came from. Historically, easiest species I have raised so far. They are large and active and have a unique trait and SUPER DUPER FAST!

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?

There are so many fascinating ants right were you live!

I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that are not found in your area.

My favorite species would either be Manica Bradleyi, or Camponotus Modoc. With Veromessor Andrei in a close third.

Harpthegnathos and Myrmecia have always amazed me, Harps with them looking kind of vicious but also cute, I love how the watch you when you enter, same with Myrmecia which are such incredible ants with their large structure and those mandibles, MAN.

Heres a link for each:

Me too, I have had zero trouble with mine and they are the easiest species I own. Because they are clean, Simi fast fast growing, good eaters, aren't too aggressive, and move easily to new homes.

for me it would definitely be Novomessor cockerelli, or Pheidole rhea. I personally have a colony of novos, and they grow SUPER quickly when heated, and are super large (easy to observe), and very active. They're always running around their outworld. Pheidole rhea, which I can't obtain cuz laws, is very cool cuz big majors.

My favorite species is Aphaenogaster rudis. Mostly because they are fairly fast growers for their size, they are not too picky about their food, and their lack of a social stomach is also very interesting. I like watching them drag their food back to their nest, which they do because they do not have social stomachs.

novomessor is the best from what I have kept when it comes to feeding and one person called novomessor the better aphaenogaster. I don't know because i have never kept aphaenogaster. I saw my novomessor bring out the larvae and put it right on the protein if they couldn't drag the food into the nest.

Well, they might have thought the outworld was part of their nest. 90% of the time, they were in the nest but I wasnt surprised if I saw the queen and larvae feeding in the outworld.

Oh, was the outworld closed and it kept in humidity?

It wasn't by choice. They are the species that looks to stuff substrate into their liquid feeders.

Wait, I'm confused what does that have to do with the queen and brood being in the outworld?
