The pilosula is down to six larvae :(

but, on a happier note, I got a colony of Odontomachus ruficeps!!! I'll be including them here.

THE PILOSULA QUEEN HAS A PUPAE!  :yahoo:

I've been told not to bother her at all or she'll destroy it. does anyone know how long it'll take to eclose? also what's the chance it pupates incorrectly and dies?

aaAAAAAaaa so jealous of that Odontomachus... ruficeps is more of a desert species, isn't it? I'll have to keep an eye out when I go on my quest for M. bagoti this year. :B

Queens: Polyrhachis cf. robinsoni, Polyrhachis (Campomyrma) sp. (likely infertile)

Previously Kept: Colobopsis gasseri, Technomyrmex sp., Rhytidoponera victorae, Nylanderia cf. rosae, Myrmecia brevinoda/forficata, Polyrhachis australis, Solenopsis/Monomorium

Yes, I think they are! These are from the Northern territory.

this colony has 5 workers or so, they are about 10mms long.

thanks, hopefully it works out! I think the stress of moving them may have contributed to the brood die off.

Well, we are down to one larvae  :(  I moved the odontomachus onto an aus ants acrylic founding nest as they made a huge mess the atom c, but they made another mess in the acrylic nest.

the odontomachus have had a pupa eclose, they seem to be settling in well.

So far, no changes. The odontomachus have two more workers, but that's it. how long do myrmecia pupae take to eclose?
