My ants migrated to a closed gall (two halves connected together) after overgrowing the half I had fixed on the side of the outworld.

I kicked out some squatters in the gall and inspected the hollows. It's fascinating, with it's support threads....a bit like Sagrada Familia.

It's quite hollow, with the support threads holding stability, like a skeleton. It's not brittle at all.

The photo does not do it justice. It's a pittly you can't really see it when packed with hundreds of ants.

I’ve never seen one cut neatly in half. Sagrada familia indeed! Like a little starship. What a great example of the wonderful evolutionary entanglement of plant and insect.

I wonder if my nylandria would like this? hmm it might not be moist enough... but it's the perfect size.

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

They do nest in hollow nuts in the wild.

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.
