Can you please get some zoomed out shots of the lasius? Also, where in CA did you find them and when? I have quite a few lasius queens which were caught in the Eastern Sierras. They are pallitarsis or neoniger. I looked at the teeth, and scapes under a microscope. If you want a positive ID, put it under a microscope, and look at the scapes and teeth. Antwiki says what to look for.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

This is not an ID post thank you. I'd rather not clog up my market place with identification but here you go.  :boredom:

I caught these up near Mt. Baldy around a month ago. I did ID them under a microscope last week and I saw exactly 3 basal teeth as well as an abundance of erect hairs on the scapes. I compared my findings to AntWiki and it seems they are almost identical. So yes, I am positive these are Lasius niger. If for some reason you would like to continue this conversation you can go ahead and PM me.

Just got delivered 2 Pogonomyrmex rugosus queens. They came in excellent conditions, very well packed and with freeze pack (for temperature stability). I'm really happy, because it's my first experience with American ants. 😃

Looks like I'm a bit late, apologies I did not see this sooner. Solenopsis xyloni colonies will most likely be available within the coming weeks.  :D
