Yeah if the tarantula was snall chances are you've got at least a decade left or so. They generally live around 20 uears or so.

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

The tarantula is still alive and well. She's dug her burro almost all the way around the bottom of the tank by now. I caught a male a few weeks ago near Desert Center and tried mating them, but I don't think it was successful. I think the male might still be too young. I'll keep him and continue trying.

I'll see if I can get some pictures later.

`If the male is sexable then it is not too young. More likely the female is not ready.

Well I say that because it looked like the hooks on his legs were just too small to hook the females legs. He kept trying but they just kept slipping past.

Can anyone guess who my Tarantula's little arachnid friend is that I found burrowed down about an inch up against the glass?

Didn't know these were "a thing." Never have I seen a fuzzy orange mite. Lol

This tarantula died some time last year, but I got me a new one. :) StopSpazzing actually found it while we were out looking for Acromyrmex last month. Looks like a young female.

I redid the tank I kept my old tarantula in.

Here's the new tarantula tank.

Now I'm just waiting for her to dig a burro. I'll be posting some pictures when that finally happens.

Amazingly, I found this guy still alive while I was dumping out the old setup. At first it looked dead, but after getting it wet, it seemed to slowly come alive. I just dropped him in the new setup.

That's the cactus from your scorpion tank, right?

Yeah, I moved it.

Well putting the cactus in there was really stupid. The tarantula ended up getting stuck behind it and in the process of trying to get it out, it of course poked itself even more and then freaked out subsequently ripping itself open and drying. It was pretty sad.

I have now replaced the cactus with some much less dangerous succulents.

One of them came with a little extra sprout of a totally different plant. We'll see if it actually survives.

I still don't have another tarantula for this tank, but I hope to get one this season. The plants aren't doing to great either. I just watered the entire tank the other day and out popped my little mite. :)
