Body:
1. Location of collection: park Memphis, Tennessee, USA

2. Date of collection: 9.28.18

3. Habitat of collection: hillside shaded by a large tree with poor grass cover.

4. Length: 11 - 12 mm 

5. Coloration: dark redish-orange with a black gaster with 4 yellow spots on it

hue: reddish,

pattern: 4 yellow spots on gaster

texture: 

6. Distinguishing characteristics: 4yellow spots

7. Anything else distinctive: her antenna appeared to move more like a dirt-dobber or some type of small wasp, and i can't tell if she's got a stinger or not.

That's a Velvet Ant wasp.

Definitely from the Red-Headed Timulla group. 


An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to their relative body size
