Hi everyone,

My name is Jason, and I have taken a recent liking to the concept of keeping ants. AntsCanada’s video series on YouTube drew me in one night and I have not stopped watching them since (I’m almost caught up!).

I live in southwestern Illinois (30 minutes east of St. Louis), though I’m from Southern California. The St Louis zoo has a colony of leaf cutter ants and my wife used to laugh at me when we would go to the zoo and the ants were what interested me the most (they have a cool butterfly dome thing too). The thought of keeping ants had never really crossed my mind until I saw the beautiful formicariums that Mikey from AC has built. The concept of creating an aquarium within a formicarium is really fascinating to me.
I don’t have any ants yet, but I’m working on a formicarium (building my own, except for a hybrid nest from AC I plan on buying). I’ll be keeping it simple until I have a feel for it.

Anyway, hello everyone!
