They get food every day. Maybe the larvae were males and they are not ready for them because males take up valuable resources.

Huge population surge! They have about 300 workers and 700 brood! I am ordering a THA Fortress and Mini Hearth XL package for them.

Thanks! I will try. They should have enough room with these nests to last until about 1000 workers.

Ok so the nests arrived today! I am moving colony #1 in right now. I will update when they are fully moved in!

Ugh, should have got a Casita. Would have lasted at least couple months.

I have a Casita in my cart though. I will probably just attach more Modular Mini Hearths to them though.

Freya and a dozen or so workers and some larvae have moved into the Fortress!

Thanks! While they are moving I noticed they have a TON more major pupae than I thought! Around 70!

I found out they have only about 200 workers. Not 300 like I thought... The Mini Hearth made it really hard to count! They have way more brood than I thought though.

I have decided I only want one large colony of these, so I will be either selling colony #2, or kill the queen and give the workers and brood to colony #1. If not spoken for in 48 hours, they will be added to colony #1. Price is $275 for queen, >70 workers and THA Discus formicarium.

Don't kill the queen! They are living creatures and by catching them you take the responsibility of caring for them unless they become seriously injured or sick. If you cannot care for them then there is no point in catching them in the first place, let nature have it's way.

Just sell the colony, you can't be the only one in the state with a love for ants!

48 hours might not be long enough for the colony to be sold.

I hope you realize how morally wrong that is. Do. Not. Kill. The. Queen. The least you could do is release it if you don't want it, but don't kill a queen just so you can make your other colony larger.

I'm not killing it to make my other colony larger. I will either sell it, or kill it. I cannot keep them anymore, and I am NOT releasing them. They could have an unknown infection, that will destroy the ants elsewhere in Tennessee. If anyone wants them (Tennessee residents) pm me. If situations (meaning money for food) get better soon, I will keep them. I want to keep them, but am not sure if I can.

48 hours is a limit being set by the responsible owner, not a life or death situation really. so either take extra time to find a new "owner" or release them as a colony.

If they have an infection then why would you consider mingling any of them with your "healthy" colony? If they are sick and are capable of infecting other ants or spreading something that shouldn't be spread, then the whole colony should be burned!

I am looking for new owners as we speak.
