1. I collected 8 or so of these queens in a city park in Tucson, Arizona. 

2. Collected 7/16/18
3. Urban desert scrub habitat
4. 7mm
5. Maroon/brown color with darker and lighter areas, matte dull texture with short little hairs. 
6. Two petiole nodes. Two spines on the rear thorax pointing to rear, about .75mm each. Large powerful mandibles. Triangular head which has a flat base at the neck. Spherical gaster.
7. Somewhat slow moving.
8. No nest found

9. Nuptial flight occured late 7/15 or morning 7/16

Acromyrmex versicolor.  These will be very hard to start and keep alive if you do not have fungus for them, as they are fungus farmers.  The best way to know they have their fungus pellets is to make sure you catch them during or right after their flights.
