Just last night they had a huge flight literally right after a moderately heavy rainfall. 16 hours in their setups they now have eggs (wow that's fast). I also have microscope pictures of some majors I found. The majors are extremely front heavy and have a very difficult time walking and sometimes end up stuck on their heads with legs in the air. Antwiki has determined that the Eastern Pheidole pilifera are monogynous. I am testing that right now out of the 9 queens I have. 3 of the setups are with 2 queens while the others are single. They definitely get along fine and clean each other.

I bet they will kill each other either after they get workers, or just over time decide to attack each other. If the polygyny works it will be quite the colony, but I wonder if they would have a double sized colony.

All of my queens are doing great. The single queens don't have a whole lot of a brood whereas the 2 queen setups have a lot more. One of my 2 queen setups has what I think is major larva which is about double the size of the minor pupa they have. If these are majors as nanitics, would these be considered unusual?

Most Pheidole are highly polygynous, so I doubt the queens will fight.

These are mostly monogynous depending what portion of the US they are in. I wasn't sure if what I have are the polygynous kind.

They'll usually wait to kill until there's a lack of resources or when the queen can produce enough on her own I think. Multiple queen setups can result in the colony being many many times larger than the original size. One 3 queen setup produced around 10 times more than normal 1 queen setup I had.

Hopefully you get the polygynous kind AAU, would love to see a colony like that progress
