Hi Everyone, was doing research on my effort to build my first formicarium and I'm stoked to have found this community!

I'm also in the Bay Area and I see that there are a few of us around here :)

I am hoping to find some guidance or perhaps a casual mentor while experimenting with making a sand/clay formicarium. Id like to make the substrate myself as there doesn't seem to be a bulk distributor (so far as I can tell). I'm also trying to learn more about which species of ant I should be matching with the substrate I have in mind.

Its nice to meet all of you and I hope to connect!

Hey I'm in the bay as well, in concord. I am also looking into formicarium building as well but only have ants in test tubes, so I'm looking into building some test tube/outworld foricarium as the next step.

The advice I can give you is look up the DIY formicarium thread on the forum. Their are a ton of ideas and full planned out ideas for you to get started.

Hope that helps.
