So I live in Toronto Canada, and I'm interested in keeping termites. From research, I've found that the species Reticulitermes Flavipes is in the city. I've even found a couple maps showing where people had found termite infestations. However, after 2 days, and roughly 6 hours of searching, in several different locations, I've found squat. So I've got a couple questions.

Firstly, does anyone here, who lives in Toronto, keep termites? If so, I'd love some pointers of where to look, because all of the parks that I've looked in have yielded no results.

Secondly, for anyone who lives in the northern US, where this species was imported from, what's the natural habitat of these termites? Do they live in old forests, or young ones? Under logs, or in stumps? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Finally (for now), again for those who live in the Northeastern US, what time of year does R. Flavipes tend to fly? And where would one usually be able to find de-alates - is the sidewalk better than a forest trail?

Again, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: I guess this was kinda solved, I found some in some wood in a park near the beaches neighbourhood. Check out my journal for more info.
