Hello all,

New to this site and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Hunter, I am new to the world of ant keeping and currently go to college in the LA area. I became interested in the hobby after stumbling onto some youtube channels on the subject last year. Up to this point I have been enjoying the content across the web documenting and exploring the world of ants. However last weekend when I was visiting home in the Southern Sierras I stumbled upon a queen just by chance, crawling along the sidewalk as I was running errands! I managed to capture her in a cup as I was completely unprepared to house a queen. Upon returning to LA I have placed her into a test-tube setup following the advice from trusted ant sources. I believe her to be a Camponotus of some species, possibly C. anthrax although I'm not certain. Looking forward to seeing her colony develop!

Camponotus sp. Queen

Colonies: Tetramorium sp., Solenopsis xyloni
