I have a P. Imparis queen and I was wondering if anyone knew of foods that she would be particularly fond of. Please mention stuff to not feed her as well.

Mine readily take Sunburst nectar, honey and fruit flies.  I didn't start feeding until she had her first nanitics however as they are fully claustral.

I have a wild colony in my yard. With some experimenting, they seem to like:

  • fruit flies
  • honey
  • sugar-water
  • mealworms (occasionally)
  • peanut butter
  • maple syrup

I think Prenolepis imparis are known for eating worms very often. I'm not very informed about that but I heard somewhere that they sometimes target worms, and I have seen them harvesting from a worm before.

This should help you, there are only two foods listed, but it can also help for other species.

My P.Imparis colonies didn't really take to:

-freeze dried shirmp (sometimes rehydrated)

-goldfish flakes

-egg white

-cooked chicken

Yes to:

-super worms

-flightless fruit flies

-earth worms

-honey

-brown sugar water
