If it’s a nematode, I wonder if it might emerge with water.

Isn't it horsehair worms that do that? I've already gotten it pretty wet and nothing happened.

This could be a nematode in Tetradonematidae.

Mmm looks like a miny rare orange avacado. You should make some guacamole with it.

It's probably not a nematode, or any other small parasitic creature, as the slow moving probably indicates it's most likely one creature.

I would say it looks a lot like some kind of worm cocoon or anything similar. If you search up images on those you'll find something resembling that weird orange shape. If it's not a worm cocoon, it's probably some other type. (my guess)

It's starting to grow stingy white mold, and I think I punctured it while moving it. There is creamy stuff oozing from the tiny hole.

Cut it open!

I still think it's a worm cocoon.

Although the rare orange avocado would be so tasty..........................

I just noticed today that this thing is still moving inside. I've punctured it twice while moving it, but both spots seem to have hardened or "healed". I also dented it too. It's so incredibly fragile, no matter how careful I am, I can't keep from damaging it when moving it. It has started to cave in a little bit on its own on one side, and right in the center of that, it's forming what looks like legs. It kind of looks like a spider or mite. Maybe this is actually some sort of egg. What lays eggs like this?

You're sort of correct. The orange blob is somewhat resembling a spider egg sac at the current moment... However the only egg sacs I have seen with that particular color is that of a black widow. I would be somewhat surprised if it was actually a spider egg sac. The legs could be little baby spiders coming out :P

You should probs cut it in half and see what's inside.

Not an egg sac, but one egg.

I see no signs of it being full of eggs. It looks like a single egg.

If that is so, I very much doubt it is an egg

Yeah I think it is something metamorphosizing.
