So i started ant keeping last year with little success as it was pretty late into the season, but having the new year coming around i did some research on antweb. I found out alot about my states local ants and have come to really go and look for some of them that i have labeled as my dream ants. Stenamma Diecki, Solenopsis Molesta (i think i actually know where a colony is), Manica invidia, Camponotus Herculeanus, Lasius Latipes, Dorymyrmex Pyramicus, & Tapinoma Sessile. While most of these are pretty common in other places the readings that i have done says some are kind of rare for my state so hopefully the hunt is good this year. What are some of everyones dream ants they want to find and keep successfully.

Atta Sexdens and any kind of Pheidole. But in my state we only have Pheidole so I won't ever be getting Atta.

I'm pretty lucky that i live pretty close to some national forests and grasslands that i can just go there whenever and hunt a variety of ants

My dream ants (based on the ones that may actually be in my region) be Camponotus casaneus, Camponotus americanus, Lasius latipes, Myrmica rubra neolaevinodis, Aphaenogaster fulva, and Formica integra.

when I was a child back in Peru. I visited. a town in the high jungles. which is the frontier from La Cordillera de Los Andes. to the Amazones. I found ants which could be Camponotus do got their size. workers were around 8mm. with huge majors. 12mm or maybe bigger. with large heads with pronounce perpendicular lines, and very large mandible. who would stand looking up with their jaws open. their jaws when open. they were wider than their gaster. they were very impressive. their nest was under a big rock me, and my dad moved. their color was opaque dark grey. their exoesqueleton was bulky. with very noticeble ridges between sections. It looked armored. it's mesosoma had pronounce lines running perpendicular to their body. it's faster had pronounce lines running perpendicular as well. I will do a drawing of how they look. I found these ants back in 1990. I check many ant pics of S. American ants these last months. I can not find it. maybe is an unrecorded species. it was a remote place kind of cold. with rains that lasted 1 to 2 months.
