Hi everyone!

I just recently got a colony of Novomessor Cockerelli from Drew, and put their test tube in a small foraging area. When I put a small cricket in the outworld, they immediately showed interest in it, but I noticed today that they have moved it into their test tube right next to the cotton. I am worried about mold growing, or that they are going to use their test tube as a dump for all of their garbage, and I was hoping some more experienced ant keepers could give me some suggestions on what to do, and if this will be problematic. Thanks!

It's quite normal for them to drag food into there nest.

I wouldn't worry too much as they hopefully will drag it out.

I would suggest if they don't after a week or so, take a think pair of tweezers and gently drag it out.

Good Luck!

It shouldn’t be a problem. When they finish eating it they will take it out. If mold starts growing then take it out manually.

Thanks so much! I'm glad this is normal and not my ants dooming themselves  :D
